Michael Christl

I am an economist specialised in public finance and labour economics, with a particular interest in economic policy. I am Associate Professor (Profesor Titular) at Universidad Loyola Andalucía and a Research Fellow at Tax Foundation Europe.

I hold an h-index of 18 with over 1,300 citations (Google Scholar). I am ranked in the top 3% of economists worldwide and among the top 50 in Spain on RePEC, and was among the top 200 young economists globally in 2024. Previously, I worked for the European Commission for seven years and at the Austrian think tank Agenda Austria for five years.

I am Managing Editor of the International Journal of Microsimulation, Associate Editor of Applied Economics, and a GLO Fellow of the Global Labor Organization. I write and speak in German, English, and Spanish.
